Lori Till, Associate Professor, Hospitality and Tourism

Lori L. Till, associate professor, Hospitality and Tourism, recently conducted a one-day ServSafe seminar and certification exam session for the Williamsville Central School District Child Nutrition Program. The interactive presentation was a comprehensive overview of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration Food Code standards. Topics included key practices to ensure food safety; the microworld; food allergies; the safe food handler; the flow of food; and food safety management systems. Once individuals successfully pass the certification exam, the credential is compliant for five years. New York State is seeking to pass the Mandatory Food Handler Certification Bill, which would require one employee per establishment to be certified in proper food-handling techniques as they apply to restaurants, bars (other than 64-A licenses), membership organizations, and private clubs.
