Arjun Pathak, Assistant Professor, Physics

Arjun Pathak, assistant professor of physics, published the peer-reviewed scientific article “Additively Manufactured NdFeB Polyphenylene Sulfide Halbach Magnets to Generate Variable Magnetic Fields for Neutron Reflectometry” in the journal 3D Printing and Additive Manufacturing, a high impact factor journal. The article, coauthored by Buffalo State College student Devanshi Malaviya, reports the effectiveness of additive manufacturing for producing prototype Halbach arrays permanent magnet for polarized neutron reflectometry application. Polarized neutron beams are used to study a wide range of structural and magnetic phenomena spanning physics, chemistry, and biology. This work has been carried out in collaboration between Buffalo State and Oak Ridge National Laboratory, in Tennessee.
