Jagat J. Mukherjee, Research Scientist, Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry Lab, Great Lakes Center

Jagat J. Mukherjee, research scientist, Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry Lab, Great Lakes Center, has received a three-year grant award from the National Cancer Institute of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) totaling $214,500 for a project titled “Phenolic Component of Tobacco Smoke as Tumor Promoter.” Mukherjee also published a paper titled “Inhibition of Benzopyrene Diol Epoxide-Induced Apoptosis by Cadmium(II) Is AP-1-Independent: Role of Extracelluler Signal Related Kinase” in the journal Chemico-Biological Interactions (2007, in press, doi:10.1016/j.cbi.2007.11.002). Coauthors are Suresh Gupta and Subodh Kumar from the Great Lakes Center.
