Margaret "Maggie" Keef and Andrea Nikischer have been named the 2022 SUNY Online Teaching Ambassadors for Buffalo State College. This honor recognizes exemplary online educators who are both enthusiastic and effective in online teaching while being a positive and strong advocate for online teaching in the SUNY community and at Buffalo State.
Maggie Keef, M.S.Ed., is a full-time lecturer in the Fashion and Textile Technology department who started developing and teaching her online courses in 2013. She serves on Buffalo State's Digital Learning Environment Project Team and Approved Applied Learning Oversight Committee, in addition to the Online Inclusion Committee at Rocky Mountain College of Art + Design. Ms. Keef is a SUNY Online faculty fellow, where she works closely with the instructional design team and also mentors faculty during online course design and development through facilitating discussions within the campus's Online Course Development Series. She also serves on many panels for online presentations including the OSCQR Q&A Session.
Andrea Nikischer, associate professor and interim chair of the Social and Psychological Foundations of Education and Adult Education Department, has taught 100 percent online asynchronous for over 10 years, and she is the program coordinator for Buffalo State's first 100 percent online graduate program, Adult Education. Dr. Nikischer has created a number of new online courses, programs, and microcredentials. She serves on the Buffalo State Online Oversight Committee, coordinated the development of the School of Education’s Online/Hybrid Course Review Process, and has provided a variety of online teaching professional development sessions to Buffalo State faculty and Open SUNY. Dr. Nikischer has produced presentations and publications on important issues in online teaching and learning, including, “Naked Teaching Online: Privileging Touch over Tools in Online Courses” and “Universal Design for Trauma.” She was previously recognized as an “Open SUNY Exemplar Coach and Mentor” and “Open SUNY Experienced Online Practitioner.”
Ms. Keef and Dr. Nikischer will be recognized at the SUNY Online Summit being held virtually February 28–March 4.
