Bridget María Chesterton, Associate Professor, History and Social Studies Education

Bridget María Chesterton has been elected vice president of the Mid-Atlantic Council of Latin American Studies (MACLAS) for the 2016–2017 academic year, and she will serve as president for the 2017–2018 academic year. MACLAS is an interdisciplinary association that promotes and develops interest in Latin American studies and affairs. The organization is composed of mid-Atlantic region scholars, researchers, teachers, students, and interested professionals in all disciplines and pursuits. The mid-Atlantic region comprises Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia, and the District of Columbia. The council was founded in Pittsburgh in 1979 and currently has more than 100 members. MACLAS holds an annual conference, publishes essays on Latin American, publishes a newsletter three times year, and awards prizes for articles and books published by MACLAS members.
