Valentin Brimkov, professor of mathematics, mentored a team of three undergraduate students from the University at Buffalo for one year in the framework of “URGE to Compute,” a joint NSF-funded program of the University at Buffalo and Buffalo State College. The findings of the team were published in a series of four research papers: in the top professional journals Theoretical Computer Science (Elsevier) and Discrete Applied Mathematics (Elsevier), in Springer’s Lecture Notes in Computer Science, and in Electronic Colloquium on Computational Complexity. The students presented their work at a number of conferences.
