Dolores E. Battle, professor emerita and lecturer in speech-language pathology, presented the seminar "Evaporating Borders: Impact on Communication Disorders, Refugees, and Asylees" at the Fourth International Symposium on Communication Disorders in Multilingual-Multicultural Populations, sponsored by the International Association of Logopedics and Phoniatrics, at Lehman College in Bronx, New York, September 17 and 18.
Battle led a delegation of speech-language pathologists and hearing professionals on a People to People visit to Havana, Cuba, July 1022. The group visited schools for the deaf, rehabilitation centers, and policlinics to learn about health-care services and health-care education in Cuba. She will present a seminar on health-care services and education in Cuba at the annual convention of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) in Denver, Colorado, November 13, and has submitted an article for publication in Perspectives, the journal of ASHA Special Interest Group 17 on Global Issues, for ASHA.
Battle was also appointed to the Practice Analysis Task Force for Specialty Certification in Child Language and Language Disorders for ASHA.
