Academic Success: Campus Update

The Academic Success area, new to the college since the 2017 reorganization of Academic Affairs, realigns the College Opportunity Mentoring Program Achieving Student Success (COMPASS), Educational Opportunity Program (EOP), and Say Yes student support programs under the assistant provost for academic success. In addition, New Student Academic Programs (learning communities, master schedule management for freshman summer registration, transfer student experiences, and the First Semester Recovery program) also report to the assistant provost for academic success. Additional responsibilities of the assistant provost include oversight of all-college academic standards, such as academic appeals petitions for changes to all-college academic standards, undergraduate academic standing reviews, financial aid satisfactory academic progress eligibility waivers, and oversight of the college’s academic misconduct procedures.

The creation of the Academic Success area has resulted in the following personnel and office structuring:

Heather Maldonado, Assistant Provost for Academic Success, Twin Rise 100
Shelly Inniss-Jackson, COMPASS Coordinator, South Wing 510
Yanick Jenkins, EOP Director, South Wing 710
Stanley Simmons, Say Yes Coordinator, Cleveland Hall 210
Leasa Rochester-Mills, New Student Academic Programs Coordinator, Twin Rise 100

Additional updates about the work of these areas will be shared with the campus community through the Daily Bulletin in the upcoming weeks.
