Watercolor Workshop: What's That behind Your Painting- - March 8

Study and experiment with various backgrounds that will enhance your painting from light to dark rich colors during this watercolor workshop, "What's That behind Your Painting?" with watercolorist Fritz Raiser on Sunday, March 8, from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. in the Burchfield Penney Art Center at Buffalo State.

Painting a background is a complex process of the overall watercolor. Raiser is dedicated to transparent watercolor and has won over 70 awards for his paintings and multiple awards at the Adirondacks National Exhibition of Watercolors. He has demonstrated his techniques at the Niagara Frontier Watercolor Society and the Art Societies of Hamburg, Williamsville, Lancaster, Alden, East Aurora, and Kenmore. His paintings are in private collections in the United States, Canada, and England. Raiser focuses on using vibrant colors to infuse explosive energy into his images. “My paintings are passionate yet whimsical, full of life, with different nuances even in the shadows,” he said.

To register for this workshop, please contact Kathy Gaye Shiroki, curator of museum learning and community engagement, ext. 3549, or download the registration form (PDF) from the Burchfield's International Center for Watercolor website.
