Appointment: Title IX Investigator and Prevention Specialist

I am pleased announce the appointment of William R. Sabio as Title IX investigator and prevention specialist in the Dean of Students Office. Mr. Sabio previously served as assistant director of human resources for compliance and Title IX officer at Niagara County Community College; as director of human resources administration at Dual Printing; as a communications officer in the Student Academic Records and Financial Services unit of the University at Buffalo; and as a lecturer at Canisius and Medaille colleges. He holds a master of science in education and a bachelor of arts in communication studies, both from Canisius College.

As Title IX investigator, Mr. Sabio will respond to reports alleging a Title IX violation to ensure that victims are informed of resources for counseling and advocacy services, medical assistance, procedures for filing judicial and/or criminal charges, and available safety services. He will also ensure that the college’s policies and procedures are appropriately followed.

As Title IX prevention specialist, Mr. Sabio will oversee education, awareness, and training for the prevention of sexual assault involving Buffalo State students, collaborating with other campus offices to design and deliver effective programs for students and informational sessions for faculty and staff about their responsibilities for reporting knowledge of an incident of sexual violence.

I thank Latonia Marsh, search chair, and the faculty and staff who served on the search committee for their help in recruiting Mr. Sabio to our campus. Please join me in welcoming Mr. Sabio to his new assignment at Buffalo State College.
