Hara Satoshi, associate professor at the Kanazawa College of Art in Japan, will present a visiting artist lecture featuring his contemporary metalwork designs on Thursday, October 18, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. in Upton Hall 230. His lecture is free and open to the public. We are honored to have the opportunity to host Professor Hara as he shares his mastery of metal and the art of traditional Japanese metal inlay.

Japanese metal inlay is a process steeped in the rich history of metalsmithing and perfected in the ornament of the sword guard used by the samurai. It is a process that continues to be explored today in the art of contemporary metalwork.

Bacon Visiting Visual Artist Series Fund, the School of Arts and Humanities, the metals/jewelry program, Students Involved in the Art of Metalsmithing (funded by USG), and the Design Department.
