Tell Students: Scholarship Opportunity

The Ron Brown ITEC Scholarship is funded by the staff of the Information Technology Exchange Center and will be given to a Buffalo State student enrolled in the fall 2011 semester who shows promise in the study of computing and technology.

Criteria for Selection
Based on the following criteria and available resources, a $500 award will be made each year provided a candidate meets all the criteria listed. The guidelines were recently revised to enable the awarding of additional scholarships in varying amounts if there are eligible candidates.

Candidates must

  • demonstrate excellence in technology or computing;
  • have a minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA;
  • have a declared major (not restricted to CIS majors);
  • provide evidence of having worked during the semester to support themselves in college;
  • submit a 250- to 500-word essay discussing how they envision applying the computing or technology knowledge and skills gained during their studies at Buffalo State in their field of study upon graduation.

Application Procedure
The application is available online and must be submitted electronically by midnight Sunday, November 27. Finalists will be interviewed by the selection committee. Final notification to all applicants will be sent via e-mail. The selection committee’s decision is final.
