Take Back the Night 2017: April 10

Take Back the Night, a yearly spring event that empowers survivors of sexual assault, will be held again this year on the new date of Monday, April 10, in the Campbell Student Union Social Hall. Doors open at 6:00 p.m. Featuring student performances, songs, poetry, and dancing, this powerful and moving event usually draws more than 200 members of the Buffalo State campus and community. Campus and community organizations will also be present to support the cause, provide resources, and help raise awareness of sexual assault. Light refreshments will be served after the event, and a banner will be displayed for participants and attendees to sign. Therapy dogs will also be present.

Examples of previous performances can be seen on our YouTube channel. Volunteers are likewise needed to help direct, organize, and oversee the event. Interested students, both volunteers and performers, should fill out this form.

Also, please save the date for our Walk a Mile in Her Shoes fundraising event on Sunday, April 30, at Crisis Services. Donate online or attend and walk on the Buffalo State team (be sure to tell the registration table that you're with Buffalo State). See photos and videos from past events on Facebook.

Please contact Paula Madrigal, assistant director of prevention and health promotions, 878-4719, for more information, to be involved in planning this event, or if you have any students who are interested in a current or future leadership role with the event through volunteering, internship, independent study, or capstone (event planning, dance, choreography, stage management, other).
