Student Rwanda Delegation Returns Home

Twelve Buffalo State University students, three faculty and staff members, and two community members have returned from another inspiring trip to Rwanda, Africa. This annual trip is coordinated by Buffalo State’s Anne Frank Project, a proud member program of the Michael and Nancy Chicola International Professional Development Schools Consortium. For 15 days, from June 18 to July 2, the 2023 Buffalo State delegation was immersed in Rwanda’s culture, history, post-genocide reconciliation processes, beautiful landscapes, and national parks. The students helped train more than 100 Rwandan primary and secondary teachers in using story-based learning in their classrooms and schools. This is the 10th Buffalo State delegation AFP has brought to Rwanda, totaling over 150 students whose stories have been influenced forever by this unique international experience.

The students’ blogs vividly share their personal experiences. The students will also share their stories in person at the Anne Frank Project’s 15th annual social justice festival, AFP 2023: Ideas + Action = Justice, on campus Wednesday and Thursday, October 4 and 5.
