Stitch Buffalo: Empowering Buffalo's Refugee Textile Artists - October 12

Please join the Global Studies Institute in welcoming Dawne Hoeg, executive director of Stitch Buffalo, for her talk on her organization and work in connecting communities by drawing from refugee and immigrants' skills in the textile arts on Thursday, October 12, from 12:15 to 1:30 p.m. in Bulger Communication Center 216.

Stitch Buffalo was founded in 2014 with the simple desire to connect communities through the textile arts. What began as a weekly embroidery workshop for refugee women on Buffalo’s West Side has blossomed into a diverse textile arts center where people gather to meet, create, and pursue economic empowerment.

This event is sponsored by the Dr. Katherine S. Conway-Turner Civic and Community Engagement Office.
