Second Annual Cinema Club - 'An Endangered Future: Children and Poverty'

“An Endangered Future: Children and Poverty“ is the theme for the four films that will be shown at Buffalo State as part of the second annual Cinema Club International Film Series during the 2011–2012 academic year. Sponsored by Project FLIGHT, the Buffalo State Equity and Campus Diversity Office, United Nations Television, and the Buffalo State Theater Department, these four films are a continuation of the spirit of Buffalo State’s well-known Anne Frank Project.

The second film in the series, City of God, will be shown on Friday, November 4, in Warren Enters Theatre starting at 5:30 p.m. This film, which received four Academy Award nominations, describes crime in the slums of Rio de Janeiro by focusing on the story of young gang members engaged in brutal conflict. It will be introduced by Lucile Ragot, an undergraduate student from France, and presented by Gary L. Wolfe, a well-known Western New York artist. A question-and-answer period will follow.
