Registrar's Office: Maximum Credit Hour Limit for January Term

Effective J-Term 2017, students in good standing will be limited to a maximum of 7 credit hours, while students who are not in good standing will be limited to 4 credit hours. This limit applies to both undergraduate and graduate students. It is important to note that students enrolled in the fall semester will not have their GPAs calculated until end-of-term processing in December. Advanced registration for J-Term opens in late October-early November; therefore, students may have already enrolled for more than the 4-credit-hour limit during the advance registration period. Departments will be notified of any student on probation who has registered for more than the 4-credit-hour limit for J-Term, just as they are for students who are over the 15-credit-hour maximum during regular semesters. Maximum credit overrides may be approved by academic departments for students in good academic standing or by deans’ offices for students not in good academic standing.
