Pedagogical Institute 2015: How John Draeger Made Me a Better Teacher: Or , Thinking about Thinking about Teaching - May 20

The Buffalo State Pedagogical Institute will present How John Draeger Made Me a Better Teacher: Or, Thinking about Thinking about Teaching on Wednesday, May 20, at 1:00 p.m. in Ketchum Hall 200.

After participating in John Draeger's study on metacognition, or thinking about teaching, Daniel Blum, lecturer in the History and Social Studies Education Department, realized that he reflected on his teaching, but not as much as he thought. He found there was significant room for improvement. How does one think more deeply about teaching? What are practical things one can do to enhance the teaching process? Spurred by Draeger's study, Blum discovered some possible answers to those questions. Practical tips to improve teaching will be provided.

The 2015 Pedagogical Institute is sponsored by the Professional Development Center, the National Coalition Building Institute, and University College with support from the College Senate.
