Open Educational Resources and Creative Commons: An Overview - February 19

Open educational resources (OER) are part of a growing trend in education. Benefits include cost savings for students and flexibility for instructors; however, locating and evaluating suitable OER for your courses can be a challenge. To support faculty members as they develop a better understanding of OER, Instructional Resources and Butler Library will host OER workshops for faculty members who are interested in learning about the possibilities of OER.

The first workshop, Introduction to OER and Creative Commons: An Overview, will be held on Thursday, February 19, from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. in Butler Library 314.

This workshop is part of a series and will address these and other questions:

  • What are open educational resources (OERs) and how are they used in a classroom?
  • Can these tools help improve my teaching and my students’ learning?
  • What are the different types of Creative Commons licenses and how do they promote the sharing of educational resources?

Upcoming workshops will discuss locating subject-specific resources in more detail.

Please register online via the CyberQuad Workshop Registration System.
