National Volunteer Week: April 24-28

Celebrate National Volunteer Week, a national week designated to highlight and celebrate those who volunteer and to inspire and promote service in our daily lives.

Monday, April 24, Noon–2:00 p.m., Campbell Student Union lobby
Student leaders will be interviewing students about their volunteerism and promoting upcoming community service opportunities.

Wednesday April 26, 11:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m., Campbell Student Union lobby
Assist in making activity kits for children of deployed military personnel in partnership with the American Red Cross.

Friday April 28, 1:00 p.m.-3:00 p.m. Campbell Student Union lobby
Join the VSLC student leaders in Community Service Trivia. Win prizes, learn about opportunities, and have fun.

Can’t make it to any of those events? Try one of these challenges instead:

  1. Spend 10 minutes checking out ORCA’s volunteer postings.
  2. Find a community partner to volunteer with over the summer.
  3. Register for a service-learning course in the fall.
  4. Sign up as a site coordinator for the 2017 Bengals Dare to Care Day
  5. Sign up for the Buffalo Niagara River Keeper Shoreline Sweep on April 22.
  6. Assist Matt Urban Hope Center in organizing their clothing boutique.
  7. Help Friends of Night People spruce up their grounds on May 6.
  8. Share articles about social justice on social media.
  9. Sign a petition on change.org.
  10. Spend a Saturday renovating houses with 716 Ministries.
  11. Donate unused clothing items to Goodwill, Amvets, Salvation Army, etc.
