Mayr's 100th Birthday Recognized by Lecture

Harvard biologist Meredith Esther Protas will give a lecture on evolutionary genetics during Bengal Pause, Thursday, 213 Science Building, in honor of the 100th birthday of "big thinker" American biologist Ernst Mayr.
Mayr was among the scientists who led the way to the conceptual synthesis of Mendelian genetics and Darwinian evolution. For his contributions to modern biology, Mayr was awarded the National Medal of Science.
Protas is in the next generation of scientists extending the understanding of evolution by studying how genes affect adaptive traits.
