IACS Accreditation: Counseling Center

The Buffalo State College Counseling Center, located on the second floor of the Weigel Wellness Center, has been reaccredited by the International Association of Counseling Services (IACS), the accreditation association for university and college counseling centers. The Counseling Center was evaluated for its compliance with IACS standards, the highest standards available for campus counseling centers, and was found to offer outstanding professional services to its clientele.

The Counseling Center is directed by Joan McCool and offers individual counseling, group counseling, emergency and crisis services, consultation, outreach, referral, and training to enrolled students.

IACS was formed in the 1940s as a committee of the National Vocational Guidance Association. IACS was established as an association in 1972 to encourage and aid counseling services to meet high professional standards through peer evaluation and to inform the public about campus counseling services that are competent and reliable.
