'Conversations' Series Begins Friday, October 5, with a Talk by Daniel Potts

The 2012–2013 “Conversations in and out of the Disciplines” series begins at 3:00 p.m. Friday, October 5, as Daniel L. Potts, assistant professor of biology, presents “All That Is Solid Melts into Air: Postindustrial Ecosystem Ecology” in Ketchum Hall 320. A short, informal wine-and-cheese reception will be held after the talk. Colleagues, friends, graduate students, and advanced undergraduate students are welcome.

Please also mark your calendars for the second and third talks this fall: Karen Sands-O’Connor, associate professor of English, will present “Being Black, Writing British: Black British Writers for Children” on Friday, November 16, and Gary Marotta, professor of history and social studies education, will present “Richard Hofstadter’s Populist Problem—and Ours—and His Identity as a Jewish Intellectual” on Friday, December 7. Both lectures will be held at 3:00 p.m. in Ketchum Hall 320.

We are also pleased to announce that Saziye Bayram, associate professor of mathematics, Kimberly Blessing, associate professor and chair of the Philosophy Department, and Kevin Williams, associate professor of earth sciences and science education, will share their work with us in the spring (dates TBA).
