Do Not Resist, a new documentary on the rapid militarization of U.S. police forces, will kick off the fall 2016 semester of Buffalo State's Beyond Boundaries: Dare to Be Diverse screening and discussion series on Thursday, September 15, at 7:00 p.m. in Burchfield Penney Art Center.
The film will be followed by a panel discussion featuring Anthony Neal, associate professor of political science, Buffalo State; Michael Niman, professor of communication, Buffalo State, and ?John Elmore, Esq., the Law Offices of Steve Boyd. The event is free and open to the public.
Winner of the Best Documentary award at the Tribeca Film Festival, Do Not Resist was filmed in 11 states over a period of two years. Director Craig Atkinson delivers a gripping and at times terrifying exploration of how rapid militarization has transformed contemporary police culture.
