Vida Vanchan, Professor, Political Science and Public Administration

Vida Vanchan, professor of political science and public administration, recently delivered an international webinar as part of the Think Tank 2022 Public Lecture Series, "Global Economy and Geographies of Production during Crises," hosted and sponsored by the Asian Vision Institute. The webinar examines the key actors and processes that contribute to the global economy in understanding the geographies of production, supply chains disruptions, and economic life. It offers development on a more resilient approach to understand the changing nature of global economy, production systems, and societies during crises. Three key areas are identified in developing such an approach, which extend beyond the existing literature and understanding of the geographies of production. They involve identifying the very processes and tasks underlying each operation and decision-making process, reconceptualizing "value" and "risk" and proactively managing risks.
