Thomas Reigstad, Professor Emeritus, English

Thomas Reigstad, professor emeritus of English, gave an illustrated presentation, "Mark Twain and the Coal Question," on March 13 at the Buffalo History Museum. The lecture described Twain's longstanding conflicted relationship with his father-in-law's successful coal business. The museum mounted a special exhibit in the auditorium on Twain's connection to Buffalo in conjunction with the talk.

Dr. Reigstad was also named to the Application Review Committee for the New York State Master Teacher Program. He will spend two days next week (March 25–29) judging as many as 500 applications from P–12 STEM teachers across the state. Applicants must demonstrate deep mastery of the three program knowledge domains: STEM content; pedagogy; and students, families, and their communities. Application components include résumés, transcripts, personal statements, annual performance reviews, letters of recommendation, and Praxis subject assessments.
