Thomas Karanas, assistant director of admissions, was named 2021 SUNYCAP Professional of the Year by the State University of New York College Admissions Professionals (SUNYCAP). This award recognizes one SUNYCAP professional annually for his or her dedication, motivation, innovation, commitment, and excellence.

Mr. Karanas oversees the Open House programs, texting platform, AI chatbot, and numerous digital and print campaigns for the Undergraduate Admissions Office. Among his many contributions and talents, he was recognized for his leadership in developing innovative virtual recruitment opportunities during the last 12 months.
